Established in 2010 by visionary frontman and dub poet Barrington Delevante, Dubvocaliza is a pioneering force in modern British reggae. Hailing from the vibrant London borough of Richmond Upon Thames, the six-piece collective transcends conventional genre boundaries, seamlessly fusing traditional roots reggae and dub with spoken word, atmospheric rock textures, and electronic soundscapes.

What began as a solo spoken-word journey backed by rhythm tracks evolved into a formidable live band when Delevante united with kindred spirits. The lineup solidified with the addition of lead guitarist Kevin Draper—whose atmospheric, rock-infused ambiance recalls the emotive phrasing of Dave Gilmour—and powerhouse drummer Matt Curr, whose dynamic rock and metal sensibilities intertwine seamlessly with deep-bass dub loops. Rooted in the rich traditions of Jamaican reggae yet fearlessly experimental, Dubvocaliza draws stylistic parallels to Dennis Bovell’s Matumbi while echoing the hypnotic, genre-bending energy of Massive Attack, Faithless, and Pink Floyd.
