Cities in Dust – ‘like Death in Vegas meets Ride’ apparently...Or ‘lysergic groove rock’, according to Nightshift Magazine. Other comparisons have included Gorillaz, Kasabian, Beck and The Charlatans.
And it’s a rich mix – of indie rock, punctuated by a wide range of genres. There’s hip-hop and electronica, punk, and psychedelia. Yet, it’s all still perfectly formed pop.
“Someone at a gig once told us it sounded like baking a cake in your ear holes”, says Ady Baker, the band’s vibrant frontman, “with different musical ingredients blending together in a unique way.
Playlisted on BBC Music Introducing, the band have played gigs with the likes of Idles amongst many others, and supported Steve Mason, Dodgy and Jesus Jones on their tours. Their entertaining performances have been described as ‘ambitious art meets relentless rock’, ‘a refreshing, upbeat breath of excitement’ and ‘Sonically charged succour for the disenchanted’.
The Cities in Dust line-up is Ady Baker (vocals), Jim Dorney (Bass), Billy ‘Smile’ Imrie (Guitar) and Leo Brown (Drums).
